Who controls your information
ParkTheBag is an independent luggage-storage comparison and referral website operated by Johnny Andersen, who is the data controller for personal data processed directly through this website.
ParkTheBag does not store luggage, take bookings, process payments or provide visitor accounts. Bookings are completed on the website of the selected storage partner.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to contact@parkthebag.com.
Postal contact: Johnny Andersen, 3 Alfie Byrne Road, Dublin, Ireland.
1. Consent and local storage
We ask before loading Google Analytics. Declining analytics does not prevent you from browsing ParkTheBag or following a booking link.
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under parkthebag_analytics_consent_v2. This preference is necessary to remember your choice and is not used for advertising. It remains until you change it, clear your browser storage or your browser removes it.
Use the Cookie settings control at the bottom of any page to accept, decline or withdraw analytics consent. Withdrawal stops future analytics loading on ParkTheBag; it does not erase data Google previously received.
When you use the storage-planning controls, your chosen dates, local times and bag count are saved in this tab's session storage so they can follow you between ParkTheBag pages. You can clear them in the controls. Editing these preferences does not load analytics. Confirm your dates, times and bags with the booking provider after following its link.
2. Google Analytics
If you consent, Google Analytics 4 measures visits, pages viewed and interactions such as clicks on booking links. It may process online identifiers, device and browser details, approximate location derived from network information, and usage data.
The legal basis is your consent. Google advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in our implementation. Google receives the analytics data and processes it under its own terms and privacy information.
Our GA4 property is configured to retain event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months. User-data retention resets on new activity, so that period may extend for an active identifier. These settings do not control standard aggregated reports.
Google Privacy Policy3. Hosting and external content
ParkTheBag is hosted on Firebase Hosting, provided by Google. Firebase processes the IP address of incoming requests to deliver and secure the site, detect abuse and provide usage analysis. Firebase states that Hosting retains IP data for a few months.
Destination images are served by Unsplash. Requesting an image can disclose your IP address, browser information, referring page and request time to Unsplash.
This processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in securely operating and presenting the website. Those interests are balanced against visitors' privacy rights.
4. Maps and Near Me
Maps use tiles supplied by OpenStreetMap. Loading or moving a map sends tile requests to OpenStreetMap's global server network. Those requests can include your IP address, browser and device details, referring page, request time and the map area being viewed.
The Near Me feature asks your browser for location permission only after you select it. ParkTheBag uses the returned coordinates in the page to centre the map and compare nearby listings; we do not save those coordinates to a ParkTheBag user account or database. Map requests may still reveal the viewed area to the tile provider.
You can refuse or revoke location access through your browser or device settings. OpenStreetMap processes its network data under its own privacy policy.
OpenStreetMap privacy5. Affiliate links and booking partners
ParkTheBag currently links to Bounce, Stasher and Radical Storage. Booking links contain an affiliate identifier so the partner can attribute a referral to ParkTheBag. We may earn a commission if you complete a booking, at no additional cost to you.
Selecting a booking button first opens a ParkTheBag redirect page and then sends you to the relevant partner or affiliate-tracking domain. The destination receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address, browser details and referring information, and may set its own cookies. If analytics consent is granted, ParkTheBag may also record the outbound click.
Bounce, Stasher, Radical Storage and any affiliate network involved determine how they process data on their services. They act under their own privacy policies. Booking details, payment information and partner accounts are provided directly to them, not to ParkTheBag.
6. Messages you send us
If you email us, we process your email address, the content of your message and any information you choose to provide. Messages sent to contact@parkthebag.com are forwarded to and processed in Gmail, provided by Google.
We use this information to respond to you and manage necessary follow-up. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling enquiries, or taking steps at your request where your message concerns a possible agreement.
Correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the enquiry and related follow-up, or longer where required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
7. Retention and international processing
Retention depends on the data and purpose. The specific periods for consent preferences, GA4, Firebase Hosting logs and correspondence are described above. ParkTheBag keeps personal data no longer than necessary for its stated purpose, applicable legal duties and legitimate legal claims.
Some providers operate global infrastructure or are based outside the European Economic Area. This means data may be processed in other countries, including the United States. Where ParkTheBag appoints a processor and a restricted transfer occurs, applicable safeguards in the provider agreement are used, such as an adequacy decision or approved standard contractual clauses where required.
8. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction, data portability, or to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
ParkTheBag does not use personal data to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects through solely automated processing. Because the site has no visitor accounts, some analytics or technical records may not be directly identifiable from an email address alone, but we will assess and assist with valid requests using the information reasonably available.
To exercise a right, email contact@parkthebag.com. We may request enough information to confirm your identity before acting on a request. You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission or the supervisory authority where you live or work.
